This morning (Wednesday February 22, 2006) the Senate Commerce Committee passed SB 461 by a vote of 5-4. SB 461 is the bill that Kansas Self-Insurers Association (KSIA) has partnered with the State Chamber to introduce, and contains language that will help employers get credit for pre-existing conditions, as well as language that would say employees are not eligible for additional work disability if they are laid off for cause or as part of an economic downturn.
The full Senate is now going to discuss and vote on this bill tomorrow or Friday. WE NEED ALL MEMBERS TO CONTACT THEIR SENATOR AND URGE THEM TO VOTE "YES" ON SB 461, AND TO REJECT ALL AMENDMENTS. The Senators are being contacted by trial lawyers and labor unions at a staggering rate, urging them to reject this pro-employer reform. WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!
