TIP OF THE WEEK

Did you know...?

The Missouri Workers’ Compensation Reform that will go in effect August 28, 2005 narrows the funnel of who qualifies for workers’ compensation.  Some examples are as follows:

·        Employees’ failure to use safety devices or obey reasonable safety rules shall result in at least 25%, but not more that 50%, penalty.

·        Employees’ voluntary use of drugs or alcohol, in conjunction with an accident, would receive a 50% penalty.

·        Injuries sustained in company-owned or subsidized automobiles in accidents occurring while traveling to and from work would not be compensable.

·        Employees are disqualified from receiving temporary total workers’ compensation disability benefits during such time claimants receive unemployment compensation.
