Did you know...?
According to OSHA standard for record keeping 1904.7(b)(4)(iv) a licensed health care professional’s recommendations for restricted work is only recordable if it affects one or more of the employee’s routine job functions. This means if a licensed health care professional recommends a restriction that he/she feels is necessary to either prevent further injury or to protect the individual as they heal, but that restriction does not interfere with the individual’s job requirements, the injury is not recordable. For example, if a physician recommends limitations on what an individual can lift at 25 pounds, but the employee is only routinely lifting items that weigh 10 pounds, the injury is not recordable as it relates to the individual being on restricted duty. If the treatment meets other criteria (beyond first aid, other lost time, etc.) it would still be recordable.
